Who I Am
Hi there! My name is Erlinda Romero-Anassian. I am a professional violinist and violin instructor located here in the heart of beautiful Burbank CA. I am also a homeschool mom.
Born of international heritage into a family of musicians, I started studying the violin at 5 years and won my first competition at 9 years of age. I went on to study at the collegiate level on full scholarships, awards and competitions at UNLV, U of Memphis and, after a one year national tour with a pop star, I made the leap to the Los Angeles music scene to join my father who was a very successful violinist in the recording industry of LA.
I finished my degree at California State University Northridge with Franklyn D’Antonio as my mentor. It was a great honor to study with such an artist for such a length of time. He was a child prodigy and studied during his youth in the Jascha Heifetz masterclass. Franklyn was a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic as well as being a large part of the film and scoring industry in Hollywood. He taught me so very much about practicing, performing and most of all teaching disciplines.
During my beautiful career, I have had the privilege of performing with many regional orchestras like Long Beach Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, Pasadena Pops, Riverside Symphony and New West Symphony. Some of my fondest memories are perhaps the 15 years I performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra under the baton of John Mauceri and eventually Thomas Wilkins. During those performances, I had the honor to perform with Julie Andrews, Liza Minelli, Santana, and Paris Combo to only mention a few that were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. I’ve also enjoyed performing at the Andre Agassi’s Annual benefit for children for many years where I performed with so many stars including Stevie Nicks, Celine Dione, Faith Hill and so many more.
I’ve recorded with many international stars such as Marco Antonio Solis, Juan Gabrriel, Luis Miguel and Googoosh. I also toured with Andrea Bocelli on the west coast for 15 years and had the privilege of performing with Luciano Pavarotti many times.
Some of the most rewarding experiences I have had, however, has been meeting a person who has never held a violin, but always dreamed of playing music. Likewise a young person who tells their parents “I want the violin” and putting it in their hands for the first time. It is magic to see someone’s dreams come true.
I focus on Music Literacy. I believe that knowing how to read opens the doors to freedom. Knowing how to read music, rhythm, etudes and scales and not be relegated to a single book is rewarding for the student. Many of my students are thankful that they can bring me a piece of music. Whether you want to play Harry Potter, or Star Wars or Bach or Beethoven and Mozart or even that song or melody that always haunted you from a favorite film, we can make that happen.
